In July I did a trip from Ottawa, ON to Winnipeg, MB and back along the TransCanada Highway via the Ottawa River Valley, North Bay, Sudbury, Sault St. Marie , Lake Superior, Thunder Bay, Kenora, etc. Each way, I averaged about five Vanagons per direction. I did not keep track of the descriptions of the vehicles.

I did see a nice Blue bus, pulled over at the side of the road at a snow plow turn around spot. To our friends in the USA, in Canada on some of our highways, you will see a large half moon circle at the side of the highway. It can be gravel or paved. They are installed to permit road snow plows to do a turn around in the winter. They are often used by 18 wheeler truckers to pull over and stop for a rest and sleep while on the highway. If you do not mind the traffic noise, they are a prime spot for stealth camping. The general feeling in Canada, is it is better for someone who is tired to pull over and sleep, than keep on driving. So that is a good spot to pull over for road side repairs or to catch some sleep.

Cheers! Stuart
