Hello Vanafans!! I just dropped the gas tank on my 85 to prep for undercoating. I did a reseal about 8 years ago and thinking I'll put new seals in again just because. Anyway, The neck of my filler tube is all metal at the top where it gets screwed into the trim ring. It is crimped onto the plastic tube that enters the tank. Now the filler hole has the inner flap that the gas pump nozzle enters when filling. As I look for a new one, all I'm seeing is the rubber filler neck tube part available and this part doesn't seem to have the protective inner flap. Also, I'm looking for a late model filler tube with the floating ball end to eliminate the overflow problem. Does anyone have one? (Why isn't Go Westy or Bus Depot supplying these??? Seems like a no brainer and a BIG improvement to anyone resealing there tanks!!!) I suppose I could try to clean my rusty metal up and repaint the exterior of it, but there is some corrosion just outside the inner metal flap. Who's got the low down on this!?! Superflydisco |
