RE: People Keep Cars Longer A double edged sword for the auto industry. First, they learn to make an engine and drive line that lasts (is more reliable) 100,000 to 200,000 miles (vs 50k in the 1950's/1960's). Then they warranty to engine for 100K. And that sells some cars. But they don't need to be replaced as often and that doesn't sell cars! So, when the car makers start selling a car that lasts forever what should we do? Simple. Buy the car then sell all you stock in that car maker :) |
