One possibility is that the oil pump inlet screen is getting clogged with debris. Using engine flushes on dirty engines often guarantees this result. When first started all is good. As the engine runs the stuff gets picked up and sucked to the screen and reduces oil flow. Shut it off and let it sit and some of the stuff falls off. Cold oil, screen clear you get some time again. Unfortunately for the Waterboxer the case has to be opened to really clean this.
