I don't think so. The earlier tubes have an angle on the end.

OK. Not getting any feedback on this issue. Only another question: Does anyone know if the floaty ball end piece can be removed from the end and installed on filler tube made pre 1988? Specifically, on a 85 tube that has the same diameter?
