I reckon that with the propane tank main valve off and the stove burner valves left open* then some air may drift into the lines that connect to the burners, even though propane is heavier than air and will want to sit, grouchily, in the line. But a whole lot of propane would have to wander out of that line for the air to reach all the way down to the branch where the stove feed and the refrigerator feed separate.

I don't buy the whole "turn on the stove burners to clear the air out of the line before lighting the refrigerator" ritual. Because I can't see how air can enter the line that feeds the refrigerator.

=========== * Try this: with the stove burners left on, the top up, and the doors shut, turn on the main valve, wait 10 minutes then open the slider and toss in a lit match. Your kids will be amazed when the explosion blows out the tent and lights up the whole campground with a Hollywood-grade fireball!
