Go Westy has a video on removing the top, but the way they handle the H-bar
works well for just removing it buy itself. When you have it off, have a
helper cut the zip ties while you release the tension on each arm using both
hands, one grabbing each arm near the ends. Installation is the reverse.
It’s not that hard to control the spring tension this way, and there is no
tension when the arms are straight:

The first symptom i noticed when my frame started to fail was my upper bunk
hitting the roof (because the roof wasn't elevated as much as it should be).
 The second symptom was a loose canvas.  I think the half centimetre or
whatever it is that it's sagging because it's cut through the crossbar
resulted in both of those symptoms.
