Servos and controllers etc etc. it sure is a tempting path but we have some great cnc and waterjet shops close by so the temptation is squashed :)

Just as the vanagon is about as complicated a vehicle I can work on, the old school tools are almost understandable after a while. I'm stuck in the mid 20th century.
