Why weld on the exhaust system? For a stock style system the pipes can be changed one at time if one is cracked. Once they crack they will keep cracking. The GoWesty exhaust pipes are also interchangeable with the original set up so you can even go that route one pipe at a time.

I always disconnect battery and ecu. I worry about high frequency stuff making mischief during welding the van. I know many don't bother. Maybe it's the welding machine I use, maybe it's just fear of the unknown. Doesn't take much effort to disconnect so why not.
