Unfortunately I had a mechanic ruin a ball joint because he didn't have the correct press adapter which clears the steering knuckle. I'd rather use the correct tools and do it myself. I hate to sound like a broken record, but a regular ball joint tool set from Autozone will not work. I've replaced a few ball joints on Vanagons and Eurovans and the Autozone kit was nearly useless for pressing in. It took a lot beers and time to get them in. Here's a link to the adapter. It looks like I may be able to buy a socket and cut it to fit: https://vw.snapon.com/specialtoolsdetail.aspx?itemid=28450008
