By now i'm sure all has been said, as i join this thread w/o reading everyone's input (thou i will with time). None the less, my first thot is, "will waving at each other become a thing of the past?"  We have so much to be grateful for by way of the " hippy" generation. Conservationist ideals like clean food, animal migration paths, right to literacy n vote for all, anti-poverty, anti-violence... the basic concepts of common decency which r born of a generation who dared to question authority and consider the preciousness of all life; the right for everyone's children and elders alike to live a healthy n wholesome future. And yet the term "hippy" is still associated today with a lesser sort of mentalitity. I can't count the number of times i've been referred to as a hippy with derogatory intent. It makes my skin crawl. With this fad of hybridization, will the truth of the hippy generation b as lost as our common knowledge of the rotary phone?   The lure of modern convenience is there for all of us who've preserved these vehicles with bloody knuckles, sweat and curse words. Even those who've gone syncro, paving the way for this modern vw camper. And it's all good. We evolve. It's nature. Still, the loss of understanding what these cars represent is at risk of extinction, as yet another manufactuerer seeks to cash in. We r facing the wannabe nation phenomena. And that's something i hope be considered as we "join society".  How many more dump sites will mound this earth with this new development? Or r we just biding time in entertaining ways til the earth swallows us up n starts over? Just wonderin.
