Evidently, someone else did find it first and it has been done before. One report on the engineer guy in West Virginia whose crew uncovered this VW problem also found a precedent in the late '90s with big diesel trucks with Cummins and Cat engines. And...the VW thing has been known for 18 months, so why is it causing a freakout now? This is not the first instance of diesel "defeat devices," as they're called. |
