Japanese CEOs don't get paid $28 million in pension, so in their case, it's honour and reputation.

I would have said the same for German CEOs, but the publicly announced value of Winterkorn's salary is so much higher than typical for a German CEO, it may or may not be true.

American CEO salaries and pensions are both obscene, AND badly out of step with those of the rest of the industrialised world.
