I believe that you are quite right to call it a HeatExchanger & that is

1 VeryGood reason to KeepIt especially if you live in ColdCountry ~ The Eng'

Coolant WarmsUp ConsiderablyFaster than the Oil, So the OEM Oil "Cooler"

helps to Warm the Oil Up Quicker & Then Helps to Cool the Oil once the O'T'

has surpassed the C'T' ~
