A week ago a Westy owning friend called me and wondered if he could find
a TDI engine donor car cheap now, since the scandal might affect prices.
I told him I didn't know yet but that I was already on the lookout.
Vanagon engine conversions favor much older TDI models than the ones
involved in this controversy but with the emotions involved it might
spill over into the older cars too. So far I haven't detected any fire
sale prices in the used TDI market. Hope springs eternal though.
