I don't think you're missing anything. The IAT sensor used to see air channeled from the right upper air intake grill and column below it, leading to air box and AFM. Distinctly 'outside air' ..from nicely above pavement level too. with 10cent cooler ...air intake is in the engine compartment ...somewhat warmer . The oil cooler exit air goes into the engine compartment I believe ..and then around the engine , down and out, and would contribute , as you say, to warmer intake air. so..warmer air. How much does that affect what the ecu does to control fuel injector on time ? Joking......Need to fit a water-to-air intercooler, like some turbo diesel conversions use .. that could help cool down and thus densify, somewhat, the air intake. Quite a lot of complexity ..and an entire additional cooling system, unthermostated of course. Scott On 10/1/2015 6:37 PM, Dave Mcneely wrote: > Well, that would be the case, wouldn't it? The air passes over the heat exchanger to cool the oil, then goes to the AFM. But the air temperature now IS the air temperature that the ECU should be seeing, and the one it should use in engine management. Help me out her to understand what I am missing, if anything. > > BTW, I do have a tencentlife cooler, and I believe it has mattered to my oil temperature and thus oil viscosity, and thus oil pressure.
