Darn,

I’m trying not to comment on this topic, but you got me.

Many of you know I’m blind. I travel with a amazing guide dog from Guiding Eyes for the Blind. for the past two years our favorite walk after work was a 4 mile hike on back roads.

You guessed it. At one house was a medium sized aggressive dog behind a electric fence. After a long winter we went out for our walk. Each day it sounded like the dog came closer and my dog walked faster. But I thought I was imagining the problem until the dog came out and bit my guide on the back leg.

It was a nasty situation and my dog was upset still trying to guide me away while the other dog lunged at us. My yelling and waiving my walking stick finally had the dog backed away.

I worked peacefully with the owners to get the fence up but it was not pleasant. My dog tries to run me past that house on our walks and we are still greeted by aggressive growling up to the point where the other dog cries out with a shock. I walk much less often now due to this problem.

I’d prefer they had a real fence.

Now, off to camp for a night in central VT. amazing guide dog making it extra fun!

Best to all of you for a great weekend.
