Something to keep in mind. Opinions in archives about tank refurbishing could be really really outdated by now. i.e. it's easy to overlook the date of the thread. e.g. in a 2009 thread, people could have been dealing with untouched OEM, newer replacement tanks or refurbished tanks. (though that should be obvious ??) Like, how old were the tanks they were dealing with? Even though the Manchester tank has a manufacture date on the tag: https://picasaweb.google.com/musomuso/PropaneLPTank#5353758688576474546 with the old type of tank, that tag was tack welded at each corner and is typically rusted out by now.

I have had no regrets replacing what was likely the OEM tank on my '81 and '88. For point of reference, the '81 had an ID tag that was nearly falling off but had the newer type of regulator etc. The '88 tank was pretty rusty.

For the ~ $350 or whatever for a new tank, if in doubt, just replace it.

Neil.

Ok. I've been reading a lot in the archives on options for the tank. >
