Hmmm ......... . Whether a state has emissions inspections or not is not up to the state, but depends on whether the state is an air quality attainment zone or not. In some states, like Texas, whether a vehicle is tested or not depends on the county of registration. DFW Metroplex counties, Houston, Austin maybe a few others testing is required. Other counties, no. That is dictated by EPA, not the state. Want my 2 cents? We should require testing all over this great country. After all, we all have to breathe. BTW, my Volkswagen Vanagon GL Campmobile with 2.1 waterboxer and 4 speed manual transmission (it is metallic tan, whatever VW called that color, Scott) passed the emissions test in Washington handily. And I agree with the earlier poster, if yours doesn't pass, something needs fixed. There are no gremlins or technicians out to getcha. mcneely
