Subject: Any reason NOT to use Euro tail lights?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"

It's time to replace my old dirty cracked tail lights. I'm planning on modifying the unused lower middle reflector spot to become an additional tail light. (Like what mark1svc sells on ebay:)

Looking at Alistair's website it shows that the Euro tail light has a pass-through red lens instead of the USA reflector/lens in that lower middle position, but is missing the silver reflector behind the turn signal: (I've read that the USA reflector/lens blocks a lot of the light coming from a bulb put in the middle position)

The Euro lenses use the big USA brake section as a switchable fog light, and use the little center section as tail/running lights, while the outer part that the USA uses for tail/running lights is their brake light. WHEW! I'm just gonna double up the tail lights and leave the rest USA stock.

Euro lights came in Hella or ULO models, US only got Hella. It looks like ULO is hard to find, so the more available Hella should fit.

With the strong dollar, it's only $20-$40 more per pair to ship the Euro-style lights from across the pond. I've found them at Brickwerks, Serial-Kombi, and Gunzl. Any other sources folks use?

Any reason NOT to use the Euro tail light lenses? Is the signal light bright enough without the reflector behind it?

Thanks, Will in Alaska.
