I'm pecking away on an iPad mini so will try to be brief ( how unusual! Haha)

We're I to do another swap, at this point I'd either:

Source diesel Vanagon parts, get the appropriate harness made or inspect and repair an existing harness, install a stock ABA or AEG ( correct code?) and lower it a little to clear the engine lid. I'd either "suffer" with the smaller diesel Vanagon exhaust or use the ABA manifold and build an exhaust.

Or

Buy FAS engine carriers, mounts (I think they have a basic kit), exhaust, adapter, And spend my hard earned time fixing up the harness, prepping the engine etc.

In my limited experience, most of the time and effort in a DIY type swap is in the wiring harness and exhaust work. If I found an original lower mileage ABA or AEG, I'd not want to "break the seal" and potentially increase costs by swapping heads.

Neil.

People who know far more than I do of wrenching and engine conversions
