Glad that helps Frank. Ya I'd figure a brown wire to be ground but as I'm sure you're doing, a VOM would confirm. My '81 Canadian Westy had a gas heater. Theres a multi point ground at driver side frame rear of fuel tank. IIRC, there were at least 3 brown wires going to that point. Most likely they're ground points for wires coming out of the larger connector to gas heater but I'm guessing. I also recall a connector at dash behind glove box and at least 2 behind dash above fuse panel.
