My take on this is this: The “bushings” on the armature of the motor are oil lite bushings meaning they have been impregnated with oil. The oil come out as the bushings heat up. I “think” that ALWAYS running the fan on high speed for a few minutes at start-up will make those bushing last much longer. ALSO, when installing these fan motors the end bushing which on some blower motors are open sided allowing dirt to get in must be covered, I use a suitable sized bottle cap glued in place. ALL the new blower motors I get now already have a cap over that bushing, so I guess someone down the line got wise.
