One final question. I have put the discs back on but have about a 1/8th inch gap between the thrust washer and the bearing ssembly. I don't understand this. I am unable to tighten the nut and adjust according to the Bentley. The end of the groove slopes up and prevents the washer from sliding back any farther. I can't even get the nut on the spindle far enough for threads to catch to push the washer back. I've obviouslymissed something but the qurstion is what! If anybody can help, I'm asking!!! Thanks!

John There are 1/2" drive torque wrenches that go to 250 ft./lbs. I think the setting for these is 168 ft. /lbs. from the factory they are in there good. I don’t know anyone the routinely replaces them and they do have any type of locking element on them except the flange under the head. They are not known to loosen on their own. If really concerned use a touch of red Loctite.

For the 8 screws that hold the caliper to the bracket they use some locking compound. Some pad sets will include new ones and some of those will have the Loctite patches on them. I have these come loose or even break. Get some P.C. 10.9 replacements and a dab of blue Loctite.

Dennis

As I understand from Bentley that the bolts securing the brake housing to the spindle frame MUST be replaced once they have been removed. AND they are to be a self locking type bolt. According to the Bentley those bolts get 200 ft lbs of torque.

Am i misunderstanding all this.

And thats a hefty torque setting for any common torque wrench.

Whats the common shop practice on all this?

Thanks!

John
