That's a lot more than I ever want to get into the speedo.
So if I just want to add some "lube" without the dismantling you did, where should I start? I willing to at least take the speedo assembly out of the instrument pod.
Is Tri-Flow okay or should I get some Super Lube? I have some gun oil too. I don't want to degrade the plastic parts.

One of the speedometers I opened up and lubed now consistently sticks at 0 until I reach about 20 MPH.
The cable may not be the cause. The cause is most likely a misalignment between the magnetic wheel and pick up wheel.
With the intention of providing room to apply lube where the shaft passes through a metal part, I pressed the magnetic wheel off a little.
NO need to do this. Doing so bent that metal part a little which caused a slight misalignment between magnetic wheel and pickup.
The OEM lube I saw was likely dried out somewhat but it looked and felt relatively thick. I mixed up a solution of hi temp grease with some kind of penetrating fluid. I used mineral oil at other points (related to needle and pickup cup)
