Hi, I strongly suggest that the lock ring / big C clip on the main shaft behind the reverse gear be replaced anytime you take a 094 transaxle apart. Mine broke / shattered and caused some major damage to some main shaft gears and the main shaft bearing. I now have it back on the road and all appears to be working well and ready for a Florida trip. Early last year I replaced 5th gear with a 0.073 to reduce the rpm on my 1.9 AFN tdi. By the way I sometimes learn things the hard and expensive way, maybe some of you can learn from me and save yourselves some heavy greasy work. The Bentley on page 35.84 states CAUTION Always replace the circlip during repairs. Midwesty |
