Junk, use them for the mechanical parts, like the buttons.  Early LCD screens were prone to this type of failure.

Talking about the digital clock; I have a few with non functioning face plate.  The ink or whatever is in there is blotching all over it, not being able to see anything else but the black face.
Anyone has a solution to that or maybe the face can be purchased?
