standard out west in air cooled days was to carry a can of sterno and put it on a rock to get it close to the bottom of the crankcase light it for 10 min or so and the engine will fire right up. Not uncommon to go from ~0 to ~100 degrees in the same day with a drastic change in altitude. mike
