The hose construction and the weird stuff inside work as a system to dampen the hydraulic pulses from the pump. If you just replace the rubber hose with a high pressure hydraulic hose and keep the insides it will scream like a banshee (been there, done that). The hose must have the proper resilience to adsorb the pressure pulses and the tube inside must act like the internals of an exhaust muffler. I have no idea what the single crimped band half way down the hose does. I suggest buying a new hose (search 251422893C to find at least one supplier that claims to have them for $281 (Ouch!)) or buy a replacement from a trusted list vendor that will back up their claim of acceptable noise reduction. |
