3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover is the best product I've found for any adhesive, even 30 year old adhesive. It's not cheap, and only available from professional auto body suppliers or Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/z8sk8fk Don't bother with the spay on version, it's not cost effective.

Heat and scrape off as much as you can and remove the residue with this. Work outside, and even wear a solvent mask if there is a lot to do, this is stinky stuff.

I'm in the process of replacing the carpet in my 91 tin top. Before I go out and buy a bunch of stuff that doesn't work, does anyone know of a solvent or cleaner that will remove the old adhesive residue that the factory used to glue down the carpet?

Also, any tips from those of you that have replaced their carpet with the carpet from Sew Fine will be most appreciated.

Thanks, Bob C
