Last year I had a bad experience with new tanks that were bad! Yes four tanks, 6 fuel pumps, and two tows that came out of my pocket before it all worked out. My guess is that the screens were the wrong mess or there was some blockage or the suction tube had a leak. Now I have a van here where I did the tank three years ago and it is leaking. The new tanks suck so beware. They also rust inside fairly quick of any moisture gets in there so if storing keep the tank full.

If the problem is a rusty tank, and I'm inclined to agree, then is the only solution to buy a new tank? This is a bummer since the PO had replaced the tank with a new one not long before the transmission failed and he parked it.
I read somewhere on the samba that some guy had drained the tank and cleaned it with muriatic acid. Anyone tried this?
