I figure any vehicle I buy is a loss. Depending on how popular it is, the
loss varies.
I'd love to get into pouring money into a Westy, but have to stick to my
tintop for now.

Is it worth that?
Will I get it back selling it someday.
If you wonder these things, then you will not have bought your first van,
and another, and another.

One thing I've found is that when I ask people what it cost, either a new
WBX or conversion, I never get a straight answer. That includes the shops
too.
Shops fear they will scare you off if they told you their typical turnkey
price, and owners are often embarrassed to admit how much they spent. I
typically get something like, "....well, I had them do a lot of extra
things, so I really don't know what a basic conversion would cost." So I
say "was it under $10k? Under $20k?" I might get a yes or no to this. Most
say "under $20k."
As they say, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it!"

Let's not forget the value of labor.
