Dan, locally, in my neighborhood in Birmingham, AL three guys I know of have Subaru conversions they did themselves. Used various levels of Small Car Parts. One cobbled together some things while one bought a full blown installation package. All engines came from local salvage yards. These guys seem very happy with their modified machines. No auto trannies among them, though. Guestimated top cost with full package and junkyard engine was $5500. These fellas knew each other and built a test stand to check out each others engine before installation. Saw one run myself, and boy was it sweet!
