I was not the one who suggested the power steering power feed. But yes it happens. Depending on how many wires and what was shorted out that 12 feed could have also connected to one of the injector returns or even a sensor. If the 12 volt feed connected to the injector switch leg the ECU is most likely toasted. And there is also the possibility of the hall sensor. BTW if you have comprehensive insurance stuff like this may have been covered. It was a fire!

Test the pump at the pump outlet first. Then work your back towards the regulator. Test that you don’t have the injector's wide open and that you're not simply filling the cylinders BTDT!

Engine running fine. Stalled in the middle of the road. Burned up the engine harness. Examination found the likely culprit was as Dennis Haynes said - broken wire of the hydraulic pump switch grounded to engine. Started things burning. Check your PS PUMP SWITCH WIRING, Volks. Avoid my troubles.

Replaced harness with used good one. Everything works but - won't start. In this case no fuel pressure. Fuel pump runs. But no fuel coming out of the test point over the engine fuel line "T". It was running fine when it stalled and all this trouble started.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,

John
