Yep, Westies are extremely popular on the west coast (that one is in SW Washington, just north of Portland, OR), and you do not find the prices around here you see in your area. Near Seattle there are four prominent shops that work on them and do conversions. You can spend a lot of money on one, and many do. These shops are full of Westies undergoing or waiting for restoration and upgrading.

They have always been popular here because of the western outdoor lifestyle. Once you pass Denver, no one knows what a Westy is, and rust becomes a major issue. The fellow that is selling that $45k rig for $29.5k (just lowered from $31K) bought a new pickup truck and trailer, I'm guessing he's into that about $80k to $100k. He said he closed his business to hit the road, and it must have been a good business.

really?? who spends $30k on a automatic westy?? subaru engine or not..

stuart...i dont know where your from but im guessing it must be the west coast...

out here on the east coast where us poor people live, those prices are not realistic... a subaru engined '87 2wd westy would never fetch over 15k here.
