We stayed at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park a couple of months ago. Not to our taste. It's the only state park I've ever seen that's called a "resort," but that pretty well describes it. It's big, mostly populated by snow birds in mega-campers. There's a shuttle to the beach or you can walk about a mile to get there. It was raining, so we didn't explore the park trails. The weird thing is that there is only one run-down restroom for the RV campground, with one shower. Tent campers fare a little better; their bathroom is a lot newer. Not sure why you want to be near Destin, but I liked Fort Pickens National Park, about a hours drive west of Destin. The massive fort is well worth visiting. There's a museum nearby that tells the story of the fort. The beach is just a short distance across the street from the campground. If you're into aviation, the National Naval Aviation Museum is a must see in Pensacola.
