It happens to me all the time, whether I am driving my camper, or some other vehicle. I drive the speed limit, observe warning signs (slowing when appropriate. People ride on my rear bumper.

For most of them, a touch of the brake is all it takes to get them to back off. Touching the brake without exerting any stopping force gives the tailgater the brake light in his or her face while not suddenly dropping speed. If that doesn't work, pull out at the first opportunity, signalling your intent clearly and slowing very gradually.

All that said, I have had, with no opportunity on my part to do anything to prevent a bad situation, some of these yahoos pass me with inadequate visual distance. I shudder at the risk.
