My 88 westy 2.1 wbx still has that shield. I'd read that an o2 sensor (references?) outside air through small holes at wires into sensor body but great detail info on that clip shield re maintaining heat! Not to clutter this list with yet more Jetta swap centric info, but on my latest iteration of hacked in exhaust, the o2 sensor is mounted at the exhaust manifold. That manifold is from a New Beetle or so I was told. Image: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-NA1H1M874ok/TtbekSSxTcI/AAAAAAAAFas/5Mn3VlYFcMw/s640-Ic42/ExhaustManifold1.jpg
