My upholstery shop wants me to leave it for them to remove so they'll have a better time installing new but I've got it sold and am afraid they're going to hack it up like a residential installer would.
Looking at it closely, its fairly obvious how the front carpet comes out. Front piece is one molded section. if you have an auto trans you may have to remove shifter housing or slit the carpet where it goes behind it. there may be black plastic dome shaped nuts holding it to the front cowl. may or may not be glued to cork backing pad. middle walkthru is another piece, you have to remove the metal strip that holds it at the rear - the phillips head screws penetrate thru to underside of van and sometimes are rusted solid. may or may not be glued to cork backing pad. the pedestal carpet is glued down with this heinous black rubber urethane cement at the edges along the rear and battery boxes. use a flat bladed putty knife and a hairdryer. along the front of the pedestals remove the plastic triangular trim piece, and use the putty knife to pry the metal channel lips back to remove the vinyl carpet welting at the top. go slow..or you may rip it. |
