Mike - and Larry - before I slid under to amuse the neigbors yet again, with this project, I found a suggestion to stretch the new gasket a little to ensure a leak proof seal. no recall where I read this but, yeah, the thing to do as the dry fit had me concerned. actually went clean and simple. crescent wrench fit for tiny increments to get the nut started. would have gone quicker if I didn't have to remove sealant from PO cheesy repair attempt. I used a nylon scour pad to avoid scratching the aluminum case. had the tube of Toyota seal packing 103 [p/n 00103] on hand but, haven't had to use it there yet. about 4,000 miles ( out of about 140,000) in just under a year later - no leakage.   h t h      another mike     =(:D)

  This job may be a little different than you anticipate.  The draining is done by disconnecting the fill/check tube at the side of the pan.  The nut that holds it may be very hard to loosen.  Ideally done with a metric open end wrench of correct size or else a large adjustable wrench.  It's great fun scraping sealant out of that groove on your back under the van.

You should buy a complete service kit, so that you can also replace the screen while you are in there.

I have also purchased a gasket that was a little too small and would not stay on the edge of the pan without gluing it down first.
