I wasn't sure if rebuilders installed new bushings, cross shaft etc. as a matter of course. I see that job from the POV of someone adventurous enough to rebuild a clutch housing. (this job isn't too hard.... in hindsight. haha)

But the oil slinger. Yes. Andrew Libbey did a nice write up on this potential issue over on the samba Vanagon forum.
