While it is nice to see something appreciate in value, I think it's a shame that our Vanagons are becoming too valuable to use....I bought mine when fuel prices skyrocketed as an alternative to my American diesel pickup...A vehicle to move me and my stuff around to fun places and to get me to my jobs with tools, etc...Now I cringe when I have to put a dirty wheel barrow inside, I'd be reluctant to take it to Baja, putting my wet dogs inside...all that is not so cool when it costs you value...

Back in the day.....a worker could afford a new truck every once in a while on his wages....not so now...My "new truck" is a $2000 AWD Safari GM van, 17 years old...I can just barely afford that while I save to have my VW transmission rebuilt....but hey, I am a carpenter..
