A locksmith can drill out that Allen screw and replace it with a larger one. Compare that to the cost of a new handle. When I pulled the key out, the entire lock barrel mechanism came with it... I should point out that i knew this was coming as its been threatening to pull free for a while. Last weekend, I pulled the interior panel and removed he exterior handle assembly to see if i could tighten the barrel into place. Apparently, this has been attempted by previous owners to the point that I can't tell if the pin is adjusted with an allen key or a screw driver bit... it's pretty much toast. Does anyone know, short of a new handle purchase, how to refix the barrel in to place? replacement handles are not cheap! Thanks, jvk |
