Dave, I have fond memories of a ’66 Westy from my youth and the “brand new” ’71 my Grandparents bought to travel the continent when they retired. I have a different ’66 Westy which I purchased back in the early 90’s sitting in my garage … still runs, but needs some TLC. It currently makes an excellent playhouse for the 5-year old.

Took the kids camping, in a tent. up until they were 3 and 4 years old. We found that by the time we unloaded the car, assembled the tent and screen house they were either rolling in the poison ivy or trying to drown themselves in the local stream. We went right out and bought a Westy. Lots quicker to set up. The kids grew up in Westies, loved it, and would have it no other way. Now they are approaching 30 and still love it when we go find a camping spot midweek and have them come up for a weekend. Of course, now, they have to bring their own tent (and boyfriends) and bemoan the luxury of the sleeping in the bus. The Westy still carries the vast majority of the gear, and often their tent(s) also. BTW, not the same Westy. > > Dave B. > > |
