Sorry for your ongoing sagas, John,

Had to chuckle...women friend of mine..helper her with her older vehicle.. I named that pick-up "Never Over" .. because it is just never, ever 'over' with this rig ...breaks faster than one can fix it almost.

did you check the oil level ? any change it's very over-filled ?

I've never had any problems with oil leaks in that area of a waterboxer engine. I've read about a lot of them tho.

obvious things to suspect ... oil cooler big sealing ring-to-block. ( this is a weak area in that the nut holding the cooler to the block should be checked for tightness once in a while ...if loose, just replacing the oil filter can make it even looser. )

oil pressure switch by the crank pulley. oil filter and its seal Front main oil seal ..the crank pulley one ..tho I've never ever seen a real problem there. those seem to work just fine to me forever. Oil level in the engine oil breather tower where it seals to the block

make sure they take it for at least a 5 mile test drive next time.

sounds like two cases of 'there you are Sir, all fixed' and immediately you find something serious not working right. oh..one of my joke sayings regarding regular car shops . .."There isn't time to fix things really right by 5 or 6 PM closing time."
