If it is an external head gasket leak, I have gotten some extension between head gasket replacement by using a bottle of stop leak. Kseal from NAPA is good. Usually stops a small seep for about a year before it starts seeping again. Been using these additives for years and years with no ill effects on heater core etc. Just my experience. The next person will tell you how damaging they are, but that has not been my experience. Also Subaru and other car manufacturers have actually sold or used as an approved head gasket repair, sealant in a bottle.
