Subject: Two fuel pump questions

Two more questions on this same topic: 1. Why does the pump start when I turn on the ignition but does not stop after a few seconds as usual? Previously it would shut off just before starting the van

2. When I try to start the engine - gas is pouring out where both front & back exhaust pipes meet & join the "J" pipe to the catalytic converter?
