Hi Denis,
thanks for the recommendation, the explanation, and the tip about the CAT and hardwear.
I would like to have this installed on my 1.9. I know I need a part from a later Vanagon but think I can get that locally.
Man I wish your shop and you were closer to me!
If I order the muffeler, Cat, and tail pipe what else do I need to order from GoWsty? And, Is the stainless hardware available in a kit or need to be created at a hardware store?
Your information is wanted and will be used. from watching this list, this is one upgrade that everyone seems to agree on.
thanks,
Eric Caron

The diameter is slightly smaller than a correct 2.1L muffler so you will want to get their straps and saddles if upgrading to the 2.1L mounting. With this diameter it can be made to work with the 1.9L Brackets if you need to. The GoWesty Cat is CARB approved so in states that require OEM or CARB such as New York it is one of the few legal alternatives. As compared to the low cost options it is larger in diameter (flow) and the element is longer (time, effectiveness) providing much more active material. It is worth the price. The GoWesty tailpipe is also very nice. I would toss the GoWesty hardware and go with stainless on the flanges. At this point I only use the GoWesty exhaust products as the cost is only an incremental increase over the Dansk crap and the mufflers that fall apart internally.
