I use vaseline on the o-ring, if I'm concerned about it not behaving while turning the sender unit into place. Used many of them over no problems.

just in case, be sure there's not 2 o-rings there. that will cause a leak for sure.

it can be accessed, tightly, by just lowering the aft edge of the tank..
