Be advised that Felder Industries has a template for a sheet metal cover for your old diesel heater vent cover that looks like the original and can be easily cut out and bent. The old splatter painting technique called "Pouline" could be used to give it the texture then painted brown. I have made the template as I said but have not yet made a metal cover but it looks easy to do.
